Big Apple 2...

This shot is similar to the one posted last Saturday. This shot however was taken inside the glass elevator. In my glee to find myself alone in the elevator I neglected to turn 90 degrees to put the building on the top or bottom of the photo (which I think would look better). I'll have to give it another try next time I'm there. Thanks for the visit.

I don't know, having it on the side gives this an even more abstract feel. Really cool shot!

@jamesy: Thanks Debbie. I am not keen on them either...this one is only one floor though! I was surprised at the number of photographers in the store. I think this is quickly becoming a "classic" New York shot.

I think this works fine. Excellent perspective. You could always just rotate the shot now?

@Laurie: Thanks Laurie. When I tried that in the software it resized the shot which didn't look as good. I think for now I will just turn my monitor!

strong composition, Charles. I love looking through the grid. The building is fine on the right I think.....If I turn the laptop sideways so it's at the bottom it's too strong....I like being drawn thru the grid in the center and the building accentuates that when it's on the side. Black and white is definitely preferred in this case...color would remove some of the abstractness. Nice range of grays...I like it.

@Bess: Thanks Bess. The sky was very dreary given the recent weather we have been having so B&W seemed like a good choice. I would like the try it again on a clear blue sky day just to see how it would look. Thanks again.

I actually like the composition as is - I don't think you would need to rotate. It's a very strong image! So many wonderful lines and shapes. I love how the image is symmetrical vertically, but that the center circle is not perfectly centered horizontally (if that makes sense). Great job!!

Wow it re-sized the shot when you rotated it? I have never had that happen before. I've had to rotate shots in post processing on occasion and it has never re-sized the shot. I am curious what software you use?

i love all the shapes and lines, the composition and the black and white. it looks as though the elevator has glass walls - in which case i am impressed that you even got this image - i would have been too scared!! haha
