Fountain in Madison Square Park

Tried selective softening with Orton Effect on the flowers. Next time I would use a smaller aperture to open the DOF offset by the Orton.

the orton worked well on the flowers gives a lovely soft gentle feel

Nice job on the orton effect. I will have to try it sometime! how did you do this --- did you just create a duplicate layer and blur it??

@PD: Thanks. I used Capture NX on this so no layers...but if you are using photoshop there are a number of tutorials. Here is one: http://pcin.net/update/2006/11/01/the-orton-effect-digital-photography-tip-of-the-week/ I find it works pretty well depending on the image. I was trying to use the selection tools to have a smaller piece of the picture affected...need to practice my selection tools.
